You get to decide what’s worth celebrating

You get to decide what’s worth celebrating

Hey love. ✨

I hope you entered the year alright. It was a bit of a wobbly ride for me - so I've taken some time to recalibrate and take care of myself.

Latest is that I am overcoming a 2,5 week flu now - and getting better each day. Yay. 🥰

I want to talk about Valentines Day

Somehow we all know it's the 14th of February, yeah? And it's about love - romantic love.... that's what all the products and ads say, at least.

Here's a text from wikipedia (I had to search it, because I actually didn't know what it was all about):

"Valentine's Day originated as a Christian feast day honoring Saint Valentine, a martyr from the third century. It evolved over time, incorporating elements from ancient Roman traditions, particularly the festival of Lupercalia, and became a celebration of love and affection in many cultures."

I find it amazing that we have these worldwide traditions, that stems from something like a martyr, and then becomes a symbol of romantic love....

ANYHOO - I was thinking of doing something for myself on February 14th.

I want to somewhat celebrate the essence of love - but make it all about self love. And I want to nurture myself, taking a day for myself to pamper me, and to take care of me, in a celebratory fashion.

Because celebration teaches our nervous system what is safe to receive.

When you choose to celebrate yourself, you are telling your body:
“I am allowed to be here.”
“I am allowed to want.”
“I am allowed to take up space without justification.”

That is self-love in its most practical form.

And I am aaaaall for cultivating that right now.

In this world, where so many things are falling apart at the seams (in my worldview at least), it is extra important to take care of yourself, to nurture yourself, your health, your mind, your emotions, your body, etc.

And after a couple of months of different kinds of stressors (teeth pulling, holidays, my home country being threatened, 2,5 weeks of flu... yikes) - I need some pampering.

SO - on Saturday - February 14th - I will pamper myself, and celebrate myself. And show myself that I care about myself.

This gives me a day to look forward to.

This makes the days up to Saturday even more enjoyable, because I feel a reward coming on.

And we can do that any day of the year.

Choose a monthly date, a weekly day - to celebrate yourself. Because it helps you feel important in your own life.

Right - valentines day is the beginning for me. Let's see where that leads. 🥰✨

With calm conviction,
Parnuuna
